A night of Debra Jean and Jon Rae.

Monday Night at the Biltmore! Debra-Jean Creelman was opening up for Jon Rae Fletcher so I moseyed on over to the east side of town.

Also playing that evening was Bruce Peninsula...they weren't my cup of tea for the most part, although some of the songs were interesting. I wasn't a fan of the Jesus songs though...memories of bible camp...ugh.

Here are a few shots from the show!

Hannah Vancouver..

Oh Hannah Georgas. What can I say about my talented friend...
I think Grant Lawrence said something like a Hot Greek Ball of Fun.

Hannah played at the Bilmore the night after the Ronatron showcase, so after I stopped by the Michele Quan opening for her new show, I ran up Main Street for my second night in a row at the venue.

Hannah was playing an acoustic set, which is just as great as the full band.

I put up the photos here: www.mcavoy.ca/hannah@thebiltmore

Music-a-tron

Ronatron Showcase on May 27th...at the Biltmore. Friends Laura Smith and Adaline were playing so I went on by.
Both the ladies were excellent as always. And Colin Moore was on hand doing a live painting that I almost won in the silent auction but lost to high roller Ronatron himself.

Check out all the photos here:

Hip to be...

I am so excited to announce that I did my first shoot for Ion magazine yesterday. I photographed a variety of stores/restaurants/pubs for their winter Hip Guide and had a great time doing so.

Luke Willms

Previous to the Hannah shoot, I was in the same area with my friend Luke Willms two days earlier. Luke, who just moved here a month ago from the states, needed some new photos of himself to bring to his agency. Here are a couple of them...

Howe Sounds...Great!!!

My very fun friends in Said The Whale had their CD release show for their new album Howe Sounds/Taking Abalonia at the Biltmore in Vancouver. It was quite an amazing show with Maurice AND Lotus Child supporting.
The guys played probably their best show to date and the crowd was amazing and filled with so many friendly people.

Here are a few of my fav's and a link to ALL of the photos I took that night:

I give them an A+++(+)...

It's only 43 more days until we move out of what has been our home for the last year and eight months. Guaranteed I'll cry.

Since move out day is on its way, we had to massively clean the suite so they could show potential renters. It looks awesome now.

I did two different shoots for Toronto Life this week, one involving a lot of bars on College St. (including Eat My Martini, which Sas, I thought you'd enjoy) and the second (as mentioned below) was the "It Spot" for May. The owners of the bar were so awesome, and lucky for Jon, who was great and brought me my tripod, he was taught how to sample vodka on its own (with bread sniffing and pickle eating), and we enjoyed delicious martinis afterwards.

With all the crazy that has happened I finally (today) got around to fixing up and putting together the Said The Whale site...from their CMW/Chart Showcase show on the 8th of March.
So here it is:

Hey! Ocean!!!

So I spent an awesome evening with friends and the wonderful people that make up the band Hey Ocean. They played at the El Mocombo for Slowcoaster's CD release party.

Today I spent a good chunk of my day and evening going through about 300 photos that I took at the show last night. There were so many I decided to make them into a webpage.

Here is the link: HEY OCEAN PHOTOS!

When you're done looking at those, go listen to them here: Hey Ocean Myspace Page

Excited to hopefully take some shots when they're recording in a few weeks.
Enjoy.

More Torontosaurus Rex Life Photos

Haven't updated in a while... But here's a good one.
Two pages in the February issue of Toronto Life have my photos on them.
The first is from the Real Estate Section.
It was a beautiful place on St. Clair Ave. that gave me excellent singles:

The next place was a restaurant that use to be a Swiss Chalet, that a design company redid and this is what came out of it:

Also, Jon and I updated/changed up our wedding website... check it out.

This City's A Mess...

"Near Crippling Snow Storm"
I went to bed with doubts that this storm was going to come... but I'm glad all the weather reporters don't look like idiots now.
It's VERY white outside right now.
I've seen very few cars go by and lots of salt trucks. And there is actually thunder and lightning this morning, which is really odd to see. It looks like the sky is a big soft box that flashes every now and then.

I am glad I don't have to go outside today, but as I'm stuck in the apartment alone, it will be a LOST marathon, hot chocolate and Said The Whale on repeat ( West Coast Christmas EP! )
Here's what it looks like at 11:30am:I'll update it later, as it's suppose to snow even more.

Christine and her Toronto Life

Here are some of the photos I have in this January's issue of Toronto Life, including on the cover!

The toilet is not only my photo, but my actual toilet. 10,000+ magazines now display it on the cover! These are the 'beards' on Queen St. that Courtney and I had to go out twice to find. It's pretty funny that it's an article about how guys have beards now because it's the 'indie look' but a lot of the guys said it was for the winter/to keep their face warm.
This is a $5.5 million-dollar condo that was pretty amazing. It had a Burtynsky on the wall! I wanted to move in.

Whirlwind Weekend...

Toronto-Burlington-Home-Toronto-Home-Thorold-Niagara Falls-Home-Toronto...
Crazy weekend! It was in celebration of my mom's 50th birthday. Here are a few of the photos I took...just of the in-between parts really.

On the GO train to Burlington.

Leaf's open practice!
Jon at the rink in Thorold.
Alex's team only had 8 guys, which isn't even two full lines. Still fun to watch/cheer though.
Scholfield Ave covered in snow.

Getting the hang of this...

So I've cut a lot of the messy stuff out of the html, so this is a bit cleaner...
Now I'm going to try and put some photos in here. Good luck me.

...1702 was just chillin in the living room when a giant storm came in...
...and then less than 5mins later...It was really weird.
Also awesome is this:1702's new Christmas Tree.
