Got to hang out with the Arkells last night as they rehearsed for their Canadian tour, which starts tonight at the Commodore.

I’ve been to the venue so many times and it was pretty crazy to be there when it was empty, and dance around on the bouncy-floor while the band practiced.

The wonderful people over at Playground.is invited me to come witness & document another one of their creations, this time featuring Dan Mangan + Blacksmith.

I took some photos of the learning process and video recording, two of which you can see in the video preview up there!

I’ve done a bunch of work over the last few years for BC Hydro, from portraits, to lighting, to energy efficient oven hoods.

I went searching for where they actually ended up (in newsletters and online as it turns out) and decided to post a few.

On the left is a story about an ice rink in Surrey that changed the panelling on the roof over the rink so the ice didn’t melt as fast. On the right is this tiny store, with a LOT of stuff called Beach Basket Giftware in Langley that changed all of its lights over to LEDs.

I’ve gone to some strange places, met some very nice people, and photographed a lot of lighting.

Back in October I did a blog post for VIA on Havana Club’s 3-year aged white rum, paired with dishes from Calabash Bistro.

I got to sample everything after, and it was very tasty. They do brunch at Calabash now, you should check it out.

Sometimes I get crazy, but awesome, photo gigs.

I spent a morning in January photographing the grounds of Richmond Steel Recycling. There is a lot involved in recycling things like cars, scrap metal, even refrigerators. Interesting subject matter for SURE.

I felt a little Burtynsky-esque shooting some of the stuff.
